Shared on Sat, 03/24/2007 - 18:23I spent a good chunk of today at my friend's funeral. It was a rough time. It's sad that it sometimes takes something like this -- the death of a man just 5 years older than me, a father of 4 and a grandfather of 5, to remind me of "the bigger purpose". We don't get a lot of time on this planet. And we waste a lot of it.
There are plenty of hours in the day to work and play games. There aren't nearly enough hours to show your family how much you love them, to show your friends how much you value them, and to show strangers kindness with no thought of reward. I need to start working harder at those things. It's a shame that it can take a death to remind you what life is really all about.
