Why does it take something like this?

I spent a good chunk of today at my friend's funeral. It was a rough time. It's sad that it sometimes takes something like this -- the death of a man just 5 years older than me, a father of 4 and a grandfather of 5, to remind me of "the bigger purpose". We don't get a lot of time on this planet. And we waste a lot of it.

There are plenty of hours in the day to work and play games. There aren't nearly enough hours to show your family how much you love them, to show your friends how much you value them, and to show strangers kindness with no thought of reward. I need to start working harder at those things. It's a shame that it can take a death to remind you what life is really all about.

Darth, as we all said in the clan that you are in your thoughts. It is sad in fact that we all forget that you never know when your last minutes here will be. We all have our moments when we get angry about the little things instead of enjoying the big picture called life.

As a father of two, Step father of four, and grandfather of three, I'm still learning to appreciate life more and more....sometimes we lose sight of what is important and blogs like this help us to open our eyes abit more from time to time. Losing a friend is never easy...but remembering them for who they were can make even the sadest of days abit more enjoyable.
