Leave No Stone Uncounted

Counting failure!

There are, sorry, would have been, 30 upright sarsen stones (orthostats) in the outer ring of Stonehenge. I know that. I breathe that. Apparently, I can't count that!

When I began construction I used the same respawn area diameter as I did in Halo 3. I forgot to check if it was the same real world diameter in REACH. I proceeded to layout the blocks. Each upright is approximately 2 metres wide and the spacing between stones is 1 metre. I used a tall 1x1 to get the spacing. After completing the circle of stones I "thought" I counted 30 in total. Everything was working out pretty good and, I got lax. Remember that picture I showed you in my last Blog? Yeah, 27 stones.

Not good enough.

My first re-do is underway but just barely. While I'm at it I can take into account the following issues.

1. Raise the whole playing field above that gigantic stone because it and the larger diameter circle conflicted. I was having issues with it anyway. Stinking rock.

2. Change the centering of the circle to allow ample and equal room for a Warthog to pass between the ring and the cliff.

3. Allow for below grade passageways which weren't possible at sea level.

4. Leveling issues with walls as floors. I hope I find a solution. Did you know tires screech on walls? Fume.

If this pictures is visible, you can see the newer and much higher playing field I am experimenting with. Click the link if it isn't.

Looks pretty cool. Hope you can make it work the way you want without too much grief. Amazing stuff.
