Snow Day

So the city "upstate" SC  is closing down today due 1" of snow and possiable freezing rain. No worky for me, however I am staying loose on  "oncall status"  but I,m #2 in the line of defense and since We do mostly Comm/Ind service we wont get any service calls, maybe 1 or 2. I dont mind the day off but I think of working upnorth and driving to work in 2 feet of snow and kneeling in 3 foot snow bank to get some buisnees some heat. Its good see some snow I have missed Snow it is great to look at from inside you house

The funny part is how every store is out of Milk and bread? When southerners hear a storm may come in they clean the area out of milk and bread? I have know idea why and noone can tell me.The News makes it sound as if the sky is falling and we all gonna DIE!! The roads are very hilly  and they have no salt trucks (a few sand trucks though). The bread and milk thing have my mind boggled I have visions of a bunch of rednecks somewhere in a cave dipping their bread in milk screaming "we're never gonna make it"!

 Last year we had a icestorm that knocked out power for 700,000 people , We were without power for 9 days and it sucked but i had a generator and a wood stove so it wasnt bad. We lived through the storm and didnt have any bread or milk...I dont know how we made it

Someone explain the bread and milk thing please........and Wouldnt water and canned soups make better sense?
