NHL 07 Lag and NHL 2k7

I played a little more GoW hardcore last night and decided to take a break and check out NHL 07 on XBL.  My experience was less than stellar.  I went 1 and 1 but the network lag was annoying.  The first person I played was in South Korea, so I guess that would explain it, but the second was in Canada.  The second game was a little better, but not smooth enough to make me want to jump online and play very often.  I'll probably just keep playing against the computer.  Anybody else have a better experience with NHL 07?  I'm almost positive it wasn't my connection. 

I did download the demo of NHL 2k7.  I was impressed.  The framerate is definitely improved over NHL07, of course there isn't as much detail.  I do like the look of the ice better in 2k7.  I found 2k7 more "arcade" in nature, but a lot of fun for a quick game.  I may look for it in the used bin at the local stores.
