Shared on Tue, 07/31/2007 - 19:15After more torture on my abs, we finally learned the boxer stance. Remember the feet apart, abs in as if punched, arms up and in front to protect? Well, take that stance and depending on which hand is dominant step back with the same side foot. Straight back. Now move the same side shoulder back slightly without moving your head or your arms. Okay, got that? Now, lift that heel from the dominant foot off the ground. Your weight should be distributed on the balls of your feet but the front heel can be on the ground. Now shift your weight from front foot to back foot without letting the back heel touch the floor. This is stalking.
Then we learned the jab and cross. They are too complicated to describe completely but my delts are sore, my abs are sore and my quads are sore. We even donned the boxing gloves and partnered up with someone with catch mitts. Now, after constantly moving and shifting muscles that haven't been used in that manner in a long time, I was tired. But, we weren't done. Timed exercises. Punching into the mitts first for form and then for speed. Did you know that boxing mitts are not light? What a work out.
My assignment is winding down and so I plan on getting online towards the end of the week. Hopefully with the clan on Thursday night since I am OFF Friday!!! My boys are going out of town this weekend and I will have a quiet house to myself. Yeee Haaaw. Yippee KiYa... Shadowrun, Guitar Hero II and Call of Duty 2 here I come. I'll be so rusty the tin man won't have anything on me.
