Eureka!

No, this wasn't some sort of revelation, just a reference to the show on the SciFi channel.  I know everyone has their opinion about shows and can or will nit pik on the details, but I do like this show.  I really try not to view a show with the mentality that it has to be based on reality?  Even those that have real life situations.  CSI?  The things they do sound good but the results are preposterous and the methodology is wrong.  But, I enjoy the show based on the entertainment value to me.  I shut the part of my brain down that goes through the logic of a show and use the other half for the emotions it may invoke.  Yeah, yeah, some might say the logic side never gets turned back on but they can bugger off.  So, with that, the Eureka season premier was a very good start.  It allowed enough of the story line from the season finale to allow a seamless flow into this new season.  Besides, spontaneous combustion?  Too cool.  Fear not, no spoilers here.

Went to see Don last night at the hospital and he looked pretty good.  I'm expecting a call from him sometime today to pick him up from the hospital and take him home.  It is going to take him at least 6 weeks to heal and the dr. said he had soft bones so they weren't going to start the physical therapy until he is completely healed.  On the other hand, this is one more night I won't be playing online.  Yes, I could have played last night, but Eureka was on and then it was time for bed.  Tonight I won't have access but, tomorrow night the 2o4duty Call of Duty 2 tournament finals will be taking place.  I have no illusions that I have a chance to win my bottom division, but I plan on having fun.  Then Saturday night is MJ's Halo 2 Drunkfest.  God knows why I am in this since I can't play worth crap, but what the hey.  I'll get a chance to meet some people I haven't played with before.

I watched a few episodes, thinking I'd take to it like a fish to water -- I'm a techno geek by trade and by habit ;) But, there was something missing in it for me. Never did put my finger on it, but the show didn't capture my interest. I even found my mind wandering or finding myself picking up the laptop because the show just didn't "move along." I'll probably watch another couple episodes to see if they were just working through the newness of the cast and such, because I'm without a "geek" show to watch now ;) I was a Stargate SG1 dork, I think I've watched every last episode -- I loved how they mixed the human element you are familiar with, threw in a bunch of sci-tech that was based in current astral physic theory, the whole multiple alien race power struggle, and a healthy dose of religion. The show hardly ever felt forced or like it drug on, they used the time well in each episode.
