Shared on Tue, 07/24/2007 - 19:13Well, I had my first boxing lesson last night. OMG, my abs are sore. This old lady is waaayyy out of shape and is feeling it. We learned to wrap our hands and this will be done for each lesson. We worked on being centered and balanced with feet apart, abs in as if we had been punched, chin down, elbows in and hands on the cheeks. In this stance we then moved the arms back and forth as if we were punching our chin, as fast as we could for 2 minutes. That was enough for me to break a sweat. As for the ab workout, I couldn't finish all of the exercises and will have to start with a rep of 5 each and work up to 10. There are three different exercises and three variations within each exercise and each of them are for 10 reps. Tomorrow we are going to learn some punches and the fighting stance.
As for life, I am very busy with work. I now have two assignments to complete and one needs to be finished by Thursday noon. No problem, just a little traveling and going into grocery stores If I may interject a public service statement here... For those who have been paying attention to the news about the canned food that is being recalled for potential contamination of Clostridium botulinum, please look in your cupboards for the items being recalled. THROW THEM AWAY!!!! Especially if you see one of the cans bulging or has been damaged. This is a telltale sign that there is a bacteria in the food product, has produced gas and is either going to blow, or has. The toxin produced by this bacterium is deadly and while the bacterium is naturally occurring in nature, the toxin is so deadly it is listed as a weapon of mass destruction. No, this is not a case of terrorism, but of a canning company that did not pay attention to their process and didn't give the food in the cans enough of a heat treatment to kill the bacteria. Needless to say the company has been shut down.
So for me to get my first assignment completed in a decent amount of time, I will be working my butt off the rest of this week and into next. I doubt very much I will get time to play Shadowrun or Call of Duty2. So sad, so very sad.
Keep on Go!
