Did you realize that there are six blogs written from women that are in the top 25 blogs of all time?  I make this point because the number of women who game seems to be growing.  I'm curious, what is it about the women's blogs that have brought about such a seemingly strong readership?

Any thoughts?

Keep on Go!

I think it has a lot to do with what the women have to say as opposed to the fact they are women. It's all about the content.

Content is a big factor for me. And a different perspective.

Visits to Blogs are generated for a host of reasons. The majority of may be a direct result of what Baine and Soup have already commented on. I read somewhere and have heard it quoted on more than one documentary and/or report that in general, men have "sexually related" thoughts rather frequently and more often than women do. That's not to say the thoughts are predatory, gross, actionable or otherwise, but the fact remains that hormones are at play throughout the day and the consept of "female" appeals on a different level than perhaps many are willing to admit. So without going into details of the inner workings of the male mind - to the male that is looking at the site and considering blogs to read - when a female posts, it automatically peaks the interest first because she's female (if he doesn't know her), then whether we actually read it or not depends upon content. Over time, we may start to appreciate the mind / coneent more than the concept so-to-speak. It's why LBSutke changed his blog image to that bodacious image. It's why "gamerchicklet" or whatever her tag is generated visits. Sex does sell to the male consumer. Both in public forums and otherwise. Cheers, Tac

Its a ratio. Guys would rather read womens blogs in the HOPE that there will be somethign sexy written, or a picture or ANYTHING. More of a base audience=more views.

I don't think it has anything to do with being a woman. I think it has to do with what they write about. To me there is no difference between a male or female writer, unless they choose to write about something from a specific male or female point of view. They are both capable of writing great stuff or utter trash.

I have an observation...women are prolific at chitchatting...which translates well into blogging.

One thing would be a female point of view. men, would like to think they can glean some secret insight into the mystery of women....... I have come to the realization, this will never happen, Women hold their secrets tighter than their children.LOL

The women who blog here do so regularly and actually have content in their posts. Their blogs are not just pics of hot women ('cept themselves) and you tube links.

Kade, I have to disagree. I beleive we write what we know. I'm male, I look at it from a male point of view, I can see from a female point of view becuase I have no clue whats its like to be female. I would like a clue, a "frickin bone" something. My wife tries, I know she does.... That poor thing...Married an ape like me.... I gotta call her and say thanks....Bye

It's probably a number of things...Being female probably is a small part of it because of this site's male/female ratio. But I know for my blogs - I do, on most days, try to put real effort into what I write because I want people to be entertained, enlightened, angered, or something...I try not to post inane randomness that people will read and go "meh" and move on. And I'll never be the woman that posts nekked pics or details my behind-closed-doors life - so I know the interest in my blog has nothing to do with that. If other women are comfortable doing that - go for it....It's just not for me.

I agree with KingDrewsky. The content is generally better. They are very rarely pics or links or copies of others' writings.

I was wondering the same thing. For one, women have been writing more lately, I have seen more blogs by women in the last month or so than ever. Also I think a big part of it has to do with what Nazzi said.
