Shared on Mon, 08/27/2007 - 06:48Since the xbox in the bedroom still works we switched out hard drives so oldest stepson could continue his Bioshock quest. I got to thinking, why not put my hard drive on and try to connect to the Beta? It doesn't require the use of the disk drive. SUMMA Bucket!! It worked!!!!!!! Now, i have to admit the Elite is still going back. Before I logged in the first time I booted up there was still a disk in the drive and we got a System Error message on the screen and one red light in the lower right corner. So, my guess is that this whole issue has something to do with the disk drive.
During my matches I happened to get promoted to Lance Corporal II (Lvl 5) and have a good start on the points required for the next level. The custom levels were unlocked for me and I was able to utilize "Steady Aim" and "Juggernaut". One is for increased health and the other is self explanatory. I was able to double my kills (6). Yea, I know that isn't alot for most of you, but for me that is significant. I got some advice from Gman one day and he encouraged me to play some matchmaking games to learn how to move and shoot and such. I've got to admit, he's right. I dont' like playing with those not in the clan or community, but I find that I'm moving and shooting more than I used to. Plus, with the maps on the Beta, I'm not falling out of windows!
Okay, I said I would give my impressions of the COD4 beta. Here they are.
Starting out is difficult. The weapons are "what you see is what you get" which isn't bad, but if you don't know the difference between them you find out that you get shot quicker by some more than others. I haven't used the sniper weapons yet, that is next on my list. I find that sitting too long, makes me a good target. The maps are easy to learn and have plenty of cover as long as you don't stay in one place too long.
Leveling up is a combination of time played, the number of kills you get and if your team wins, if you are playing team games. Each level requires a specific amount of points and each levels point requirement increases the higher you go. The perks don't unlock for you until you reach level 4. Then you can customize your character depending on how you want to play, sniper, assault, etc.. This give you the chance to have many combinations of perks and weapons.
Overall, I'm enjoying the beta and will definitely be getting a copy for each game box so we can system link.
So, depending on all the varables in my life, I will be playing this as much as possible!
Keep on Go!
