House Hunting

This is either infuriating or fun, depending on how easy-to-please you are and what your finances look like.  Luckily, my finances are in pretty good shape as I have been renting a small apartment for the past 3 years to save money.

Location, location, location.  I'm actually not gonna stress about this too much.  I've proven that I can live in a variety of locations with a variety of neighbors just fine.  I'm not super-hung-up on being walking distance to the library, butcher, baker and candlestick maker.  I'm looking for a house that's liveable (livable?) and I'm sure the rest will work itself out.

So what am I looking for?  For those that know me well, you know that I am lazy.  I'm looking for a house to just move into and be done with it.  In the last house I owned, I installed a ceiling fan, a separate chandelier, surround-sound speakers and did some painting in several rooms.  That's not much work to do (and I could do similar work in a new house again) but I never got around to finishing the basement, adding a patio or putting in a fence around the yard.  Hopefully the next place will have those bigger projects taken care of already.

The finished basement could be used for a permanent Rock Band party location (and workout equipment room).  The fenced-in yard means potentially getting a dog.  And the patio means I wouldn't have to grill in my driveway like I did at my last place LOL.  Little things to be sure, but they add up to increased happiness I'm betting.

For those of you who know the Indianapolis area, I'm currently looking in Nora, Castleton, Zionsville and Brownsburg for a house.  Wish me luck!  I have to vacate my apartment by Nov. 1.
