This is a class of player that the inherent point of GRAW has passed straight over. They are, in fact, vacationing Unreal Tournament players whove just popped in to say hi!
Now, dont get me wrong, I love and loved UT like few other games, as a latecomer to online gaming it was more or less my introduction, and many many happy hours were spent on my little G3 iMac playing it. I suck at it. No, I really do. Whenever you see me saying "I suck at it" you can believe me, Im merely pointing out fact, not hunting for sympathy. Im a bad gamer, I dont have the time or willpower to dedicate to getting world class at games. But hey, I enjoy it. Life is good in my little corner of Game World. I wish I was good, but dont lose sleep over it.
One thing I do try to do is be a little stealthy in GRAW, sneak around, sneak up on people, do them with a well placed headshot from a hidey hole before moving position to try again. It just feels *RIGHT* as a way to play. Sometimes I pick up the M60 or similar and find a spot, then keeping an eye on my fellow players Ill lay down suppressing fire when I can help out. Often I dont even think the other players realise what Im doing, but sometimes I do help them, even if they dont realise. Feels good, feels teamy, feels a little professional dare I say?
Then along comes Unreal man. Stealth is anathema to this guy. Subtlety a four letter word. Its all about the kill and no matter how often you die in achieving it. So, here he comes, up through the middle of the built up area in the fishing village, past the coaches running like hell and spraying fire everywhere. You know, often he even kills one or two of the other team, but his life expectancy is measured in seconds. Then its respawn and go again. At the end of the game you look in the lobby at the stats. Hes made 15 kills, died 27 times and his average life is 34 seconds or something. And then mine. Six kills, three deaths, average life 2.30 or so. In blunt terms as a ratio our results arent that different. So we may be equally useful to our respective teams, in different ways. But I swear to god if someone mods this game to give a rocket jump hell think all is right with the world.
And just to be clear, this is an observation, not a criticism. Clearly Unreal Mans tactics do the job required, and hell always be welcome in my games (far more so than Spawn Camping Scumbag Man or Whining Timmy High Pitched Screech Kid). . . he just amuses me with his bull-in-a-China-shop approach. In fact Im convinced that 50% of the time Unreal Man kills me its because Im convulsed with laughter at his antics and cant use the controller. Now *THATS* entertainment!
