Others are courageous and noble, even risking or sacrificing their lives for us personally and/or humanity on the whole. Our heroes might also be those who have attained celebrity in film, athletics, or your chosen vocation etc. And still, there are those classical characters of mythology, comic books, novels and film that one might project as an alter ego.
So, who is Paul Rand? You can easily Google the name or quick tab to Wikipedia. But, for me, Paul Rand set the stage for the importance of my profession and has been a major influence on my approach to design for the last 14 years. You may not recognize the name, but his work is legendary in popular culture. He defined graphic design and more specifically, corporate identity and branding - now buzz words for anyone in business. Sure, he wasn't the only guy doing this, but at the time and even now, he was one of the best. Everyone needs/wants a logo. Even Prince (the artist formerly known as) felt the influence of Paul Rand. We all do...just look around or turn on your 360.
A sample of Paul's work:
"Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated."
