I'm 25 years old, just got married in May and have a little boy turning one this Saturday!!! Yay...we made it this far :)

I'm a nurse by practice, though I'm not working right now.

My wife has a very rare disease, that can turn into cancer.  We've been to two doctor's, one of which at the IU med center...and the guy said he knew about the disease...and  now he's just doing a follow up in six months. :(  No biopsy's to see if it's cancer or not...just wait and see.  Her labs seem to lean towards lymphoma...but we haven't even gotten a PET scan to see if there are any hot spots :(

Needless to say, we're on the phone with various doctor's trying to get someone to do the tests we need :(

One year old is a great age. That’s about when they’re done being door stops and begin being little people. Enjoy. Hope things work out with your wife.

Sorry to hear about your wife. But YOU are in charge of your own medical care not your doctor. If you want something done, demand it. If your doctor is a douche and won't comply, move on to another doc who doesn't have his head up his ass.

PS : my wife has also gone through cancer. If we had have taken the wait and see approach like the doctors wanted, it would have killed her. Take no shit from your doctors.

Hey Tactr, welcome aboard, I think you’ll like this site, but you’ll definitely meet great people here. One at one, that is a great age. Unconditional love, and big enough to do stuff with. Sorry to hear about your wife, I hope it all works out for ya’ll. And to Tanks point, don’t take any shit. You need to do research and find a specialist, based on what she has. A proactive approach should be a good indicator of a Doctor that will take a dedicated interest in your wife’s well being. PET scans are very specific, they are useless for some kind of cancer. So you go to CAT scans and / or ultrasounds, Periodic blood work for tumor markers, depending on what kind of cancer she may develop. Wait and see is usually to see if what was done worked or not.
