I'm new to this whole blogging thing, so please bear with me. I have to figure how to post images and stuff like that still. I'm sure my blog won't be all that entertaining at first, but we'll see what happens. I'm basically just testing things out.

I was at the Astros vs Rockies game last night at Minute Maid Park, and witnessed Craig Biggio's 3,000 hit.  I have tickets for tonight too, which I purchased last week as insurance in case he didn't make it last night.  He needed 3 to reach 3K and he got 5!  It was only his second 5 hit game of his career.

Biggio has been my favorite player for a long time.  I'm 30 years old and I've been a die hard Astros fans since I was 9 years old in 1985.  Bidge (as he is affectionately called) first broke into the majors in 1988 for a short stint while the starting catcher, Alan Ashby was on the 15-day DL.  He was back up to stay in 1989.  I've basically grown up as he's "grown up" in the major leagues.  I feel so lucky to have been able to witnessed his milestone last night. The best part of the celebration was when he dragged Jeff Bagwell (retired) onto the field to share in the applause.  Bidge and Bags have been the face of the Astros since Baggy (yeah, tons of nicknames) broke into the majors in 1991.  With Bidge batting leadoff and Bags hitting third, I can't tell you how many times I saw Biggio score after a Bagwell drove him in.  It's said that Bagwell's career was cut short due to a bum right shoulder.  #7 keeps going, playing out the string in a stellar career.  He plays the game the right way, and I am honored to have seen him bust his ass for my team for almost 20 years.

I'm going to the game tonight to once again cheer him on not only for his 3000th hit last night, but for everything he's brought to this city and my team.

Cheers,

Dre

I am jealous. I like the Astros myself ever since we got a minor league team of theirs in my little town. The Greeneville Astros are as close as I can get for now.
