Journeyman Cancelled??

So apparantly this was reported last week, but I just came across the story tonight.  One of my favorite shows of this new season, Journeyman, seems to have gotten the ax!  I'm so pissed!  I was really enjoying this show!  I know the formula of time travel to "make things right" has been done before, but I thought this time it was very intelligently done.  They got the little details right, like the "past" scenes would have music of the period playing in the background, or relevant news clips playing on background TVs.  It had the right amount of mystery surrounding it that kept my attention.  I'm really bummed that these types of shows are getting yanked so soon.  It seems that most people these days are into instant  gratification and won't put up with shows that have mystery and questions surrounding it.  It's the same argument that the LOST critics spew forth.  Everyone wants all the answers RIGHT NOW!

It's such a damn shame because I really like shows like Journeyman and LOST; shows that mess with your mind and make you go WTF?

What do y'all think?  I really hope I'm not the only fan of Journeyman!

tried watching it, but did not like it very much.. but I agree, I am tired of shows getting managed so poorly... Firefly, Jericho, Space - Above and Beyond...

Are you kidding?!!! I was on the fence about this show until about 3 or 4 episodes into it, but the past few weeks, it's been must-watch TV. I guess, if they're going to leave it dangle, the ending of this most recent episode almost tied it up. Damn, I'm going to have to break this news to my wife.

I'm not kidding. It's effectively cancelled because NBC didn't order more episodes by the deadline. The networks have ordered new episodes for shows they want to keep, despite the strike. It's a formality as far as I understand. While NBC hasn't officially said Journeyman is done, they aren't going to order new episodes. Who knows, maybe they will get fan backlash a la Jericho and it will be back next year. Problem is, it will probably lose any and all momentum by then.

I watched the first 4-5 episodes and thought it was too formulaic...dude goes back in time, doesn't know what to do, thinks he figures it out and tries to help the wrong person, then he figures it out, saves the person and they go on to cure cancer or something. Meanwhile his boss rides his ass for deadlines and his family is ignored...that is about every episode in a nutshell...

I felt similarly the first few eps as well, but then they started introducing little twists that really hooked me. There were definitely some mystery elements at play.

Yeah, it took a while for me to sink my teeth into it. I think the moment it got me was when the brother was questioning the rogue FBI agent, and the agent said under his breath something about how cash was always tripping 'them' up. Formulaic, but it executed well, and carried the story from one episode to the next very well.
