Drost

Soups done gone and wrote about our FFA adventure. Remember what I said about Prison Sex? yeah, pretty much that was spot on. I blew ass in the FA, but then I blow ass in FFA even when Im not playing against all the big fish in the biggest pond.

I was just happy the little timmy fuck sitting next to me, Yeti-somethingorother, didnt advance either. He came in fifth. I could hear the shattering glass as his broken dreams crashed to the floor. Sniff. A moment of silence for little Timmy.

Fucker.

Anyway, here’s the actual recap of the day. Eks, Soup and Xssmoke showed up at Speedbmp’s at about 10:45, 11, or so. Really cool meeting Eks and Smoke for the first time. It’s always cool to actually get to meet the people you’ve been trying to be friends with online. Both present better than they do online. More sane, perhaps. Well, Eks anyway.

We hung out, shot people, goofed off, had some margaritas and a couple shots of the Patron. And it was good.

We left Bmp’s house for the Tourney at about 4:45. We got there and parked in the hotel’s $6-a-day parking garage and went in. We stood in line for about 45 minutes with a couple hundred teenagers (and possibly some college kids) and their parents. Oh, and Facehumper. His goofy ass showed up and kept everyone entertained most of the evening.

It was cool going through registration and being called “a team,” and cooler still seeing 2old2play on our envelope (which I’ll get to in a minute).

Entering the “arena” was awesome. There were probably 100 televisions and 100 xboxes surrounded by people crammed elbow to elbow, all clamoring for some Halo 2. There were, wait for it, girls playing. Lots of them. And every time they won, the mob cheered.

But I’m getting ahead of myself.

We warmed up for about 45 minutes or so. We’d been playing split screen all day at Bmp’s, but actually doing it at the venue was a whole different deal. You can’t hear anything. The cacophony of BR fire just sort of echoes around the whole room, marring out any specific sounds.

You don’t hear the grenades bounce. You don’t know if that’s your shields chiming at you or the other guy on the split screen, and you can’t take the time to look down to check because you’re always in the middle of a crossfire. Not what I’d call optimal playing conditions.

In the midst of our warmup, Tait (OMM) and Caligula (Aged Assassins) showed up. Both are really cool guys. Caligula got the total screw on his first-round game, but again, I’m getting ahead of myself.

About 7:00pm, we got our group and heat assignments. Malice and I played first heat, Eks and Soup second heat.

I played poorly, got 7th (not fucking last) and went on my not-so-merry way. Malice got a last-second kill to move into fourth and into the second round (where he got to play against Foulacy, of all people).

Eks played in a tough group. There was some girl in there named PMS Tinima (Tenima?) who used “The Claw,” to great effect, stealing 40 something kills and still only coming in third. His game was tight the whole way and only spread out the last couple of minutes.

I didn’t see a lot of soup’s game. Suffice it to say it didn’t go very well.

So… we advanced one player. I don’t remember Tait telling me what happened in his game, but I know Caligula got paired with Tsquared. I didn’t see his game, either, but I imagine that was a good time for him (hope you didn’t drop the soap, dude).

Malice put up a valiant effort in the second round, but those kids were pretty good. Foulacy ran away with it. If I remember right, he had 50 kills, second place had 31 (34?). The gap was wide. And these were second-round people.

What was cool was that when Foulacy saw Malice was in the game, he looked up to see which player Malice was. And then after the game, he told us to stay put and came and talked to us for about five minutes, despite us being the oldest non-parents in the room. Good kid and a helluva Halo 2 player. They’re not all Timmies.

After that, we all headed to some goofy ass pub with live music and decent foot. We all hung out and talked, then headed back to the house for some drinks, good conversation and some Halo CE (the 360 sucks balls for halo ce).

And that was Day 1. Now, I gotta go to fucking sleep. It’s almost 2 in the morning and I’ve got to play team shit in eight hours.

The fuck, man. I mean, seriously.
