First one coming up Aug, 11th. The 6th Annual Salty Dog Triathlon in Hutchinson, KS.
This event was were I participated in my first Triathlon back in 2005. So I look forward going to back to this one to gadge how much I've improved, or simply gotten older.
It begins with a 400m swim at the outdoor community pool. Serpitine style through all 8 50meter lanes. Then exit to the transition area and bike out for a 10mile ride looping the park, then back to the transition are and run out for a 5K (3.1 mile) run.
I chose this event for my first Triathlon primarily because of the pool, and that it was a flat course. The swim was what I feared the most and being in the pool did not seem to be a bad idea, in the event you get into some trouble you can simply stand up or grab a rope.
2005 Results:
Overall 120th out of 171 time of 1:21:44 and 13th out of 16 for my age group (25 - 34)
2006 Reults:
Overall 52nd out of 200 time of 1:07:26 and 11th out of 21 for my age group (25 - 34)
I'm excited to see how well i do this year. I have improved on my swim, and greatly improved on the bike. Now if i can just put a good run together maybe I can do well this year again!
The second event will be held Aug, 26th. The Jackson County Triathlon in Lees Summit, MO.
Will be first time at this event. I hear its a relatively flat course, may make for a fast time. :)
