A sad day for 2old2play

Well, coming off the high of the LAN, some really sad site related stuff went down today. Doodi and I brought down the 2old4duty clan forums after much deliberation. One of our longtime site mods was the leader of the clan, but felt like branching outside of 2old2play. When he started a separate clan site we werent happy, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt. Turns out that wasn't all he was doing. He was starting a site to directly compete with 2old2play. He even went as far as to copyright 2old4duty. I mean c'mon. Stab us in the heart and shit on us. Wow. All I can say is that both J (doodi) and I were genuinely hurt by the way things went down, and we wish it could have gone very differently. We are great friends with lots of 2old4duty people, and hate to see something like this happen.

That said, the 2old4duty forums have been all shut down here at 2old2play. If some of their group wants to hang out elsewhere that's fine, but we know that the friendships we've made with lots of 2o4d people are stronger than that. For the 2old4duty people, you can stay, or you can go. There was a coup in the works for a long time, and we're really not happy about it. It seems like there cannot be a clean, easy split here. It has to be definitive. Those of you that were not involved, we want you to stay. We will make sure you have everything you need here at 2old2play to be successful in helping your clan rise anew from the ashes. For those of you that weaseled backroom shit behind our backs, shame on you. We bent over backwards to do what we could for you and you fuck us over? A copyright? Come on...

That's all I can really say right now... I'm sad and pissed and displeased in general. For those of you 2o4d people I hung out with all weekend, I had a great time with you and I hope you stay.

That's a good move DSmooth, i think those guys should have access to their forum read only and you should put a notice in there about what's happend so they're not all like WTF?

Sorry to hear this Dsmooth, It seems like you and Doodirock work hard for us.. You should get more respect then what you have gotten.. Is there any way to re-open the 2old4duty clan with a new overlord.. I'd hate to lose all those members to another site

That's how I feel ... The "junior high" project reference... the supposedly "adult" atmosphere we all wanted when coming here... is NOT what the top brass of this site are displaying in my opinion.. I've got the mental picture of a kid screaming "MY ball .. you can't play with it ..." I don't like playing with screaming children.... I just want to play with adults and enjoy the friendships I've made. If that can't happen here, well then it kinda sucks but if that is the choice those who run the joint have made, I just gotta deal and move on. Kids fight about this shit, adults find a solution to it without all the mud slinging, whining, crying, and acting up in public. This is a sad day for 2old2play indeed.

Being that it's a long story though with a lot of spin (coming from me) I'll just say it's not since I don't have any desire to type the 10 pages it would take to explain it fully. It would be the same comparison as saying the moon and earth are exactly the same because their sphere's in space.

@ doodirock You talk about respect. Maybe you should give a person that offers to send money and help with YOUR site the respect of a response. I'm sure that you don't even remember me sending you a PM asking if I could help.

It's really like watching a bunch of kids fight and bicker... there really is not need for it. This site is awesome...why do you need to go anywhere else? No one has answered that question. It's too bad this all happened...but, people should grow up, and realize that there's always another perspective you don't have yet...so you're reacting to half truths. Good luck 2old2duty

Hopefully when 2o4d "cloned" 2o2p they did include that ladder software. :-)

Tdrag nailed it IMO and now that they trademarked the name, opening the clan with a new leader might not be the smart thing...I would make new and move on

Alright, I'm in the dark about the details but let me see if I have this right. The Duty guys made a website of their own... Why? ( I could be wrong but I doubt it was money, was it bragging rights?) What did they feel that they weren't getting here? More freedom? some kind of site functionality that they wanted? Making a website is a lot of work (I imagine) They must have (felt like they had) some strong compelling reason to do all that work. What was that reason? I believe Doodi is trying to protect the site he started from a perceived threat. I don't know how much conversation has gone on between the admins and the guys in Duty. I hope it was a considerable amount before actions were taken... I smell wounded egos, strong loyalties and selective truth telling in both camps, so I won't hold my breath waiting for simple, straight answers I think both camps can come to the table, discuss and come to (hopefully peaceful) terms.

@FadeIntoBlack : Ok well... you're one of the few people who has seniority over me on here so i'll take your word for it :) If you typed 10 pages of spin i probably wouldn't read more than the first paragraph so save the effort :lol:
