Defining an Ache

Em

Sometimes, theres this feeling I get that the only word I can find for is "ache".  It’s not necessarily an unpleasant feeling, although at times it deepens sharp and brief into a pain, then returns to its baseline hum.  It doesn’t affect my ability to function, or enjoy things that appear in front of me, or to concentrate on important tasks.  It somehow ….colors… my perception of things I see.  It’s not always there, shows up at the most unexpected times…at work…in the tub…playing halo…vacuuming.  A quote from a movie I saw recently keeps coming to mind, “The loneliness birds are laying stone eggs in my heart”.  But I don’t believe in movies:)

Every exposure to stimulus is a learning opportunity. Some opportunities are disregarded, some are life changing. Having the opportunity to decide (consciously or not) is what makes different than the apes. During the short time we chatted (after I kicked your butt!:)) at NYC, I came away with the KNOWLEDGE you are a good person that hit a speedbump in the roadway of life. As the Romans said - time and tide...

Since you're a nurse, I would guess you have already ruled out specific physical ailments. If it's a general feeling, it could be the "loneliness birds" which I think come with not just being alone, but also with a dissatisfaction with life as it is. It could be work, health, family, relationships, home, neighborhood, part of the country, or anything else that is coloring your outlook. I have no answers, only questions and observations. But know this, I have something similar at times and have never found a long term cure. Be well, be happy, and keep giving hugs, they have a way of coming back to you at the right times!

How boring would it be if we were estatic all the time. Feelings of melancholy are okay sometimes. Our societys preoccupation with BPD leaves most people to believe they need drugs if the are not happy all the time.

The hurt seems to hold on longer than the good/positive feelings in our lives. I hope you can reach out for and feel the good from the things that are hurting you. Maybe they can lessen your struggles by reflecting on the good, I know its there. Hugsssss and best wishes.

I got an ache from mowing the lawn for three and a half hours (it was almost up to the knees). I'm not in pain, but I'm definately not in a happy mood either :) CodeMonkey

hang in there girly. Mind over matter. You can be as happy or as sad as you want to be. Alot of it is the state of mind. If you ever need to talk. My ear is open.
