Shared on Tue, 01/30/2007 - 15:32It occurs to me that I've been blogging about the most random stuff, but not made any real introduction into who I am. I'll attempt to overcome my persistant paranoia in order to fix that. If I'm cryptic, it's really just because I don't trust anyone out there and I believe you're all out to get me.
I'm 28, married to a wonderful writer/photographer (my artsy half), two great kids (and that's it, no more!!!). I live in southern Louisiana, but grew up all over the US, and occasionaly outside of the US (military brat). I have an english degree and a degree in industrial hygiene, which basically means I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with my life at first and I'm still not sure I've decided for good. I have a definite interest in occupational medicine, epidemiology, and environmental toxicology and if I can ever take the leap, may go back and become "Dr. English."
As for my nickname, my last name is English and C6H6 is the chemical shorthand for benzene, a nasty chemical (from a toxicological standpoint) that I deal with everyday in my work as a Safety Engineer at an oil refinery. I try to make sure no one gets overexposed to nasty chemicals, solve safety problems, and occasionally fight fires or respond to chemical releases or other emergencies(which is really too much fun) .
I've been gaming since we got a knock off of a Calico-Vision in Japan on a trip there from where my Dad was stationed in the South Pacific. Gaming continued to be big through the Apple IIe, NES, Super NES, and various computers that I still think of as "IBM clones." I got out of console gaming for the most part in college ( I did have an N64, but aside from GoldenEye, I was just pissed that I jumped on the N64 instead of the PS). I gamed on a computer for much of this time, going through tactical shooters, twitch shooters and RTS gaes quite a bit. Once I was out of college (the first time) I traded an old PC for a PS2 and then was very envious of the Xbox for the nest few years.
Now I have an Xbox 360 and I finally feel like I have the "right" system for me. I may get a Wii sometime (for the kids, I swear!). But I love my little (loud) white box. Now if I could only get my ISP to stop dropping packets outside of Atlanta so I could game online more regularly.
I've joined the guys at 2o4Tactics and they've been great (when my ISP cooperates). I love GoW and R6:V and Oblivion. I enjoy Lego Star Wars II a surprising amount (especially with my son) and I love the arcade and the movies and the TV shows. Now I just need to convince the wife that I need a Microsoft points allowance.
Oh, and the Rockstar label on my blog and posts? I drink a good bit of the stuff. Especially when I set all of this up and I was workin 90 hours a week, seven days a week for a few weeks at a time. At night. Yeah, I love my job.
Anyway that's who I am. Who are you again?
