When do you get to the point that you are no longer interested in new music?  I'm still collecting new bands even though I'm approaching 30.  It amazes me that I still love listening to the Eagles, Hank Williams, Jr., Willie Nelson, the Moody Blues, CCR and other stuff I grew up on and yet I can hear something from Fall Out Boy, Coldplay, or Blue October and really get into it.

I'm not really even a music junkie.  I don't own an iPod or have 50,000 songs on my hard drive.  I just like a lot of music.  I love throwing a bunch of songs on a MP3 CD and seeing where they land.  It's funny as hell to me when "In the Ghetto" by Elvis ends up right before "Lose Yourself" by Eminem or "A Love Supreme" by Coltrane comes after "Helena" by My Chemical Romance.

Being one of those 1 in 10,000 "normal" people, I don't know if it's a talent or a curse. There's absolutely nothing more horrid than sitting beside a singing friend who can't carry a tune if it was handed to him in a bucket. It's akin to fingernails on a chalkboard. It also kept me from being able to get better roles in high school and college theatre because they "needed me" in the main chorus. On the lighter side, it annoys the hell out of my wife. I guess it has SOME use.

I'm 40 and still listening to a lot of music. From the good ol' stuff like CCR, Eagles, Steve Miller, Cream & Pink Floyd (before the breakup), to New Age (Kitaro, Coyote Oldman, Deuter), to Blues (Tab Benoit, Eric Lindell, Keb Mo), to Goa/Trance (Infected Mushroom, Tosca, Doof), to 'new' stuff (Lifehouse, Train). Check out the tracker if you want...http://www.last.fm/user/Styro/
