US AIRWAYS

US Airways is without a doubt the worst airline that I have dealt with in the Post-9/11 era.  I used to fly a lot (several times a month) and now I'm down to a few times a year, but I know "good" air travel.  US Aiways is NOT good air travel. Things that bothered me

1. They showed commercials during the boarding and flight, often with voiceovers. So I get the priveledge of PAYING to be a captive audience to your travel commercials.  Good thing I always bring earplugs.
2. The flight attendants try and sign you up for credit card offers during the flight.  Seriously? Just give me my half a coke and bag with 6 stale mini pretzels in it and leave me alone.
3. The tray tables are now billboards for advertisements. I just want somewhere to put my lame drink and "snack" and I get an advert for Fidelity 401K.
4. Airlines always lose bags, but to tell customers that it's their fault because "you were too early for your flight, so we put it on a earlier flight that got cancelled because of a hydraulic failure," that's just crazy talk.
5. When you're going to lose 5 different people's bags on one small flight, have more than one person there to take down their info.
6. Customer service overall was dismal.  A flight attendant slapping me on the shoulder when I'm asleep to tell me to hand a drink to another customer is just not acceptable. "If we haven't called you in 5-7 days, call us to see if we have your lost bag."  Really?  They did get me my bag later that night, but do they seriously think I'm just going to be OK with not having my luggage for a week?
7. "Your bag is 50.5 pounds sir, you will need to remove half a pound from the bag or pay $50 excessive weight fee."
8. "We have an earlier flight, would you like to take it?  It will only be 50 dollars." Didn't this kind of thing used to be a service, like, for free? I didn't take it but, yeah, that was the flight that ended up getting cancelled and screwing up my luggage.

Anyway, that's it for my flight gripes for this time.  Next time I'll cover why the security rules, especially the liquids rules and the shoes thing are just plain stupid.  Or I'll just piss and moan about not being able to sell my house.
