NHL 07 - finally a decent EA sports game

I downloaded the NHL 07 shootout demo yesterday. I wasn't expecting much since the Madden 07 demo blew monkey chunks. I had a chance to play the full version of Madden and was left very uninpressed with the game. Just goes to show that competition makes everything better. However EA still has competition with their NHL franchise from the 2K7 camp. I'm still in the process of downloading the demo for that game so I'll post impressions later.

However, EA's latest entry into the ice rink left me very happy indeed. First off the graphics, oh my goodness the graphics. This game looks frickin beautiful! I played through that shoot out 5 times in a row just to get a good look at everything. The player models look great, especially their faces, sooooo much detail. I'm a  new Xbox360 owner and this is the first game that has really impressed me since Fight Night 3. The controls were very easy to pick up as well. Use the left stick for movement and the right for dekeing and shot control. After a few minutes I was slapping pucks past that Carolina goalie with ease. Damn Carolina......GO OILERS!!! Anyway, I've always been a huge hockey fan and it looks like I'll finally have a decent game to play on my Xbox come Sept 12th.
