Lair looks pretty awesome, but I admit that I'm a bit bummed that when your dragon swipes at a group of people they all have the exact same flailing animation. At least make 3 or 4 of them and randomize... The big bonfires are also very obviously not real-time flame effects, just canned animation that's applied to all of them. You can see that especially when it switches to the dragon view for the first time. Looks like something out of PS2. Perhaps it's such a complex game that such things were necessary shortcuts for framerate issues due to the scale of the levels and amount of people on-screen.... who knows. Still looks like a hawt game!
a few months ago the frame rate topped out at 22, and was avg around 13.. sad..
but I guess its much better now.. its still a few months away (3 or 4) so I think most of those issues you mentioned (which I 100% agree with) might be fixed.. it will probably be delayed more..
but I want this game for the main reason.. FLYING A DRAGON.. RAWR!!

No doubt. Flying a dragon and having those air battles *will* make this game awesome. Even if you never land on the ground it will be a freaking awesome game just for those dragon-on-dragon rawrfests.
