Coders can be.... critical of others... other coders.. wanna be coders... and I really hate those idiots... who basically can only do "Hello World" and think they are elite coders and go around bashing real coders for using such revolutionary things as... proper formatting.. comments... UML... and SAVE their projects.

For those who are not coders, Hello World is the real first basic program almost all people learn the first time. Usually its just a window that pops up and says HELLO WORLD!

Now I fully support ANYONE who wants to learn how to program, it can be scary, but its rewarding. But I am dealing with a "Timmy" who is using C# and TV3D (an advanced Windows 3D Engine for games) and there are several tutorials to go through, and he did the first one last week which takes.. 2 - 3 minutes max.. (with reading) and he did it, all happy.. hey its good when your new.. but for the last week I have been.. do tutorial 2, so you can learn some more stuff.. but he wants to be told how to do things, not learn it so he can make a FPS..

so I finally get mad, get him on the phone.. he isnt really a timmy but a OLD GUY (50s, I know its not old, but his words).. who says "I know how to code, I did that Hello World.. just tell me how to do it..."

Sometimes you just wish you could reach out and touch someone with a automatic weapon.... loser your not a coder if you can only do Hello World.. you are a reader and follower of directions.

I know what you mean. Ppl who never gave a shit about my hobbies/profession got a MySpace account and now they're "Interweb Experts" like me. Fortunately, I can hit those ppl. But yeah, I still give a Napolean "yessss" for every Hello World, no matter how small.

I get that all the time. I like coding by example. I am notorious for copy and paste programming. But if you don't understand what's going on that can easily get you into trouble. I am currently doing this. I copied and pasted some code from the net that will read a RSS 2.0 feed. Most of the feeds I tried work. But when I try a digg feed I get a timeout. Ahhhhhh. Now I have to research why this might happen.

If it's so easy, just code it yourself and avoid the whole issue.
