Something great for the PS3 by a strong game developer.. will the industry follow?

Finally, or should I say hopefully, Phil Harrison said something that is not easily taken as 100% prime bullshit. In an interview he said that Resistance Fall of Man will continue (obviously as its sold more then all the other games combined pretty much) and in April we will see some content. This content will expand on the story and it almost sounds like it will be a placeholder between RFoM1 and RFoM2.

Phil Harrison - "Adding multiplayer maps and modes is the tired standard, but actually building upon the single-player narrative with downloadable content would represent a significant step forward for PlayStation Network -- and keep Resistance holding down the console that's sure to let loose sooner or later."

Now this is great and perhaps someone finally realized that adding just Multiplayer content is not the only way to expand on a game. Are you listening Epic? Microsoft? iD?

I am tired of seeing just games being expanded upon in the Multiplayer side of things, especially when more people play single player then multiplayer in most cases. If Insomniac and Sony can pull this off, its a great coup in the game industry, something we have not seen since Origin released the Secret Missions download content for Wing Commander Prophecy.  Oblivion does not count because it is only a single player game and the content does not expand on the original story, but just add side quests.

The biggest question now is, will the great Epic Games give us something on the Single Player side of things before we see a Gears of War 2? Or will they just pull more Multiplayer levels out of their asses? I doubt it. It is a major failing of the Xbox Live side of things. The Multiplayer gaming is so strong and popular that anyone thinking of adding extra content for a game with both single and multi player options, forgets about the single player game.

But what if Epic released a single player pack (even if they charge for it, which I couldnt care if they did or not, you guys who complain when a company releases extra content and has to spend 150pts for content you will play to death, really need a new whine to sing, games cost a lot to make, get over it).. so what if Epic released this SP pack and you could play as COLE and the original squad? Or find the girl?  Or hell play the other parts of the single player game and fill on those plot holes, or even better yet have a bridge game, between GoW1 and GoW2.

Its the one thing that PC games are far superior in, the MODs being built cater to both sides of the playing field. Consoles need to catch up.
