So I have been trying to decide on my next tattoo for about a year now. I have had this idea in my head the whole time as to what I wanted..........and I was surfing around looking at different tattoo and I found one VERY close to what I was imagining in my head. I have always been intrigued with ancient Egypt, and wanted to become an Egyptologist's at one point but there are only 2 schools in the US that offer this and they are unfortunately not in my location and with a family you can not just pick up and move on a whim. So, I settled on reading all about their lives and art and I soon grew an affection for the eye of Horus symbol and the story behind it, so that is how I choose the eye. The only difference is I wanted more color in mine and I wanted the eye to be blue, whatcha think, I would get it on my lower back??

Do yourself a favor, avoid the lower back. Do it on region of the hip. Right near your waist band. They have completely made tats on the lower back into a "tramp stamp" bullshit. It will save you alot of grief, and still be easy to see when you want it to be. My .02.

the tat looks cool, and Baine is 100% right...Do not go the Tramp stamp route...It is almost like getting a tribal ban around your arm thing now..very over done..

Don't do the tramp stamp. You'll automatically be thought of as the name.

Same level as the lower back but on the side. I think it looks pretty hot. My sister in law has a bunch and she did the side thing, she also did two coming down her sides the same place your arms would lay. My wife got one on her lower back before the tramp stamp thing started. Its not a tribal thing, which is her only saving grace.

all I can see is the box with a red X.... which would be a kind of funny tattoo.... I agree withthe tramp stamp thing... I kind of like the side, where your arm lies.

The pic of that tatoo didn't appear in the blog. Don't listen to the haters! I love the lower back tattoos, I find them very sexy when they peek out of a waistband when a girl leans forward. My wife got a lower back tattoo a couple of years ago, a nice string of flowers with a dragonfly.

I have the Eye of Horus on my shoulder. It has a long list of significance in Egyptian mythology. The left eye of the Sky God Horus was stolen by his jealous brother Seth (pronounced "set"), the ruler of the underworld. Theoth restored the eye to Horus, who then gave it as a gift to Osisiris, his Father. The eye represents the sun or moon (depending on if it is the left or right version) and rejuvenation. The right eye is strength/Sun (masculine) and the left eye is rebirth (feminine/Moon). I like the use of the tribal imagery in the tattoo above. To avoid "Blog jacking" I will post some pics of my tattoo on my blog if you want to check it out. My only advice on tattoos is simple: Ignore everyone else and only get inked if the image and placement have long-term meaning for you. Yesterday's "sexy tattoo" has become today's "Tramp Stamp" and may well be tomorrow's "sign of strength". Bottom line, trends change, but ink will not.
