MW3 Improvement #3 Sabotage

This is installment three of my improvement guides. This time we'll be talking about sabotage. If you've ever played halo, sabotage is essentially the same as the nuetral bomb gametype. Each team fights towad the center to ick up the bomb and tries to force their way to each team's arm site. Then they try to defend their armsite until the time runs out.

This is going to be a bit long, but I did say I was going to go in depth on these new guides.

The basic parameters of the game are:

1.) time limit of 20 mins

2.) bomb arm time of 2.5 seconds

3.) bomb defuse time of 5 seconds

4.) respawn delay of 7.5 seconds

5.) bomb indicator always on if not carried

6.) if carried bomb indicator refreshes 3 seconds.

These rules help define the game into a totally different animal from any other gametype. It isn't as slow as search and destroy, but niether should it be played with wild abondon like many kill confirmed or team death match games.

You'll notice if you play against a team of timmies, these games typically last the time limit because the kids generally like to farm kills. It is incredibly easy to get spawn trapped in this gametype and eventually you will become overwhelmed and frustrated if you don't take the initiative and the bomb right away.

The experienced gamer should play to win, not to farm those easy kills. Kills in this gametype are next to worthless experience wise and even if the game reaches the time limit, you'd be better off playing domination or tdm if you want to maximize your points and rank up quickly.

To win in this gametype, you must first grab the bomb, and get it early in the game. You need to have at least 2 people set up to carry the bomb. The best loadout for this is someone running an smg class with extreme conditioning and blast shield. Having assassin as a bomb carrier is not helpful. Since you always have an indicator telling the other team you have the bomb, they'll always have an idea where you are. The extreme conditioning is so you can always move faster than the other team and leave that bomb indicator behind. Remember you are generally not running away from the other team, you're running from that indicator. The smg primary just helps you run even faster. The blast shield loadout is for when you are arming the bomb. You're going to get some nades thrown at you. With only a 2.5 second arm time, being able to survive one of them is usually just enough to be able to plant the bomb.

As a bomb carrier you need to remember to keep moving behind your own lines and using your team to defend you. The best way to do this is to choose two guys on your team to run back and forth between them. You need to always tell your team where you are going and which person you are running towards and if anyone happens to be chasing you. As a bomb carrier you also need to be aware of the kill feed. If you notice four of the other team have died recently, and you have more players alive in the game, you need to tell your team to make their move and protect you while you arm the bomb.

The other players on the team can use whatever loadout they like, but I'd tell them to avoid using assassin just the same. The way you're going to be playing the game (a quick win), there generally aren't going to be many uav's. I would suggest that at least 2 people on the team run tactical insert, 3 would be even better, but no more. The reason for this is so when your teammates die, and they will die after the bomb is planted, they don't have to worry about wasting time running across the map. The reason only three people should tac insert is because if the bomb does get disarmed, that means you failed defending the area, and now the other team has the bomb. Those three teammates will now spawn in the defend area, and they will now be trying to wait for, and kill the bomb carrier. Once that bomb is back in your posession, you need to at least move it forward to the mid point of the map. Anyone should do this as leaving the bomb in your area makes it easier to get trapped.

You also need to save your killstreaks. stay away from the supprt classes. The way you're going to be playing, getting anything useful from a support class will be next to impossible. The best killstreaks to have are predator missles, air strikes and reapers. The reason is because if you're on respawn, you need to send everything at the arm site you possibly can. don't send anything at people away from the arm site. Hit the arm site even if you don't see anyone there on the targeting system. This is because you need to make sure the bomb area is clear, and someone might be disarming with assassin pro on. Best not take the chance.

Anyways, so you have the bomb armed. now you need to move into their spawn. This is to push their spawn further out of the arm site. Generally if you see one person on the other team trying to push the bomb, that is the direction the rest of the team will be coming from. Remember, you only have to defend for 26 seconds. Why, you ask, when the timer obviously counts down from 30? the reason is because it takes 5 seconds to disarm the bomb. If the timer reaches 4 seconds, you have won the game. It is impossible for the other team to disarm the bomb.

So in short, you are going to blitzkrieg the center of the map, gain control of the middle of the map and have the bomb runner move back and forth until you have numbers. Then you're going to rush the arm site, arm the bomb, set your tac inserts, defend the bomb with air support and weapons, which you'll use after you respawn for 26 seconds. This isn't as hard as it sounds because they're on a respawn timer as well.

If you do this well, you should win the game within 3 or 4 mins. The team's I've run with have done it as soon as 2 mins, which means we planted at the 1:30 mark. Do this and with a reliable team of 6 you should have no problem winning more often than not in sabotage games.

Tomorrow we'll go into Kill Confirmed.
