Kill Confirmed is Team Death Match with a twist, for your team to win the game you must accrue the dog tags of enemies you have killed. This sounds simple, but if you want to ensure a victory almost every time, you must do a few things well as a team in order to control certain situations. These situations vary depending on the size of the map and type of player you are.
The things to know about this game type are:
1.) gold tags are the tags of the enemy dead.
2.) gold tags appear on your mini-map, but not the enemy's.
3.) red tags are the tags of your team's dead.
4.) red tags don't appear on your mini-map, but appear on the enemy's
5.) the team to get 75 tags or has the most tags when time expires wins.
Everyone believes the key to winning is just grabbing those dog tags as you see them, but there is another way to win by playing a bit more conservatively. You can do this by camping out and focusing on the red tags on the map. The reason you focus on the red tags is because they are your teammates' tags. They don't show up on your mini-map, but to the other team they show up as gold tags on the mini-map and are ready made traps for the other team. Camping out the tags that appear gold on your mini-map is often a waste of time because many times the other team won't pay attention to them because the game doesn't really make you focus on denying tags from the other team.
The other way to play is by being more aggressive than the other team and running in packs to make sure the trade of tags always ends up in your favor. If you have 3 people running in a pack and you run into 1 guy, he might get one, maybe even two kills, but the third person in that pack should be able to kill that one guy and deny those tags of your dead teammates and grab that gold tag of the guy you killed.
There are some other things to pay attention to when you play this gametype. You need to pay attention to the kill feed which appears in the lower left hand corner of your HUD. You can sit back and get your kill (or kills) and be relatively safe, but when you see 3 or four guys on the other team have just died in the kill feed, you need to run out and grab those tags. The reason you do this is because you have a greater chance of success grabbing those tags and living if the majority of the other team is on respawn.
While the tips above are helpful, they don't really translate to a team of six working together. The best loadouts for a team to win are to have a couple of runners with SMG's (preferably one that has a reliable rate of fire with good accuracy at mid-range. These guys are the ones who grab the tags. You'll need three riflemen for those mid to long range encounters to back up the runners and get the majority of kills, and you might need either another runner or a sniper depending on the map size. Why? Here's why.
On smaller maps, like Dome and Arkaden, snipers are rediculous. They'll die more often than not, and really won't help your team. But on larger maps like Outpost, another runner would be next to useless. They'll be at a severe disadvantage in the open spaces and while it is necessary to have two of them to grab tags, three would favor the other team too much and would tax the abillity of the rest of your riflemen. A sniper would be better in that situation. The sniper on larger maps would almost never grab tags though. He would kill people to keep them on respawn and clear the way for riflemen and runners to grab the tags.
So, in closing, the most important things to remember about Kill Confirmed are to always pay attention to the kill feed, have the right mix of players for each map size, and to realize red tags on your screen are visible gold tags to the other team and will attract the other team like moths to a light.
Next installment will talk about Headquarters Pro.
