Shared on Sun, 07/24/2011 - 23:08I have been plagued with kidney stones for over 15 years now. In the beginning I only had an "attack" every 18-24 months. In July of 2009 I had a gastric bypass. Since then I average a kidney stone every 3 to 4 months. Tonight was my latest journey to the ER in an attempt to gain relief from extreme pain. I see a urologist regularly and am trying to provide him with a 24 hour urine collection. Problem is you can't have any blood in your urine for two weeks before the test and with stones and the residual fragments I can’t go two weeks without blood in my pee. The guess is that I am taking in to much protein through meat. I require 70-80 grams of protein/day since my by-pass. Eating more cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt etc might help. These things really suck and are painful as all get out. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas regarding kidney stones that are a little less conventional as I have tried all of the obvious things. If you have any ideas please leave a comment.
Thanks
