I done went out as fast as my high-heeled footsies could spike the pavement and snatched me up a copy of Fallout New Vegas.
And...dammit...I can't get into that city...YET!!! Standing at the water tower hill above Good Springs at night I got to stare in awe at the distant lights of New Vegas...um....at least I think that was New Vegas...I was suddenly attacked by huge bloatflies...so...I ran away...ooops...I meant I went looking for bug spray. Actually, I encountered my second non-mutant technical bug.
First glitch or bug or annoyance or whatever you want to call it (I am thinking very creatively but am trying to refrain from being a profanity spewing gamer-chick in text) - right at the beginning when Dr. Mitchell tells me to stand up I knock a pencil off a coffee table and it spins in front of my face for the whole duration of being in his house. Annoying but not interferring with game play but....ummm....it was weird. When I finally leave the house it falls to the ground outside. Paranormal activity...dun, dun, dunnnn.
Second glitch and...it IS annoying. I hot key a weapon and...at some mystery point that hot key assignment decides it is time to up and quit without due notice and....in so doing...leaves my butt hanging in dangerous situations. Anyone else have a hot key sticking problem? Perhaps that is just me?
I hope this is the least of my problems. Other glitches thus far I have been able to ignore completely because they are just usual.
I miss the Capitol Wasteland...a bit...I am still exploring and trying to warm up to the Mojave. This is a lot more colourful than I expected. Not the greeny, grainy atmosphere of the apocalyptic Wasteland which was kind of a neat atmosphere. This is sort of...like Oblivion...only sandier.
I miss Three Dog...and Galaxy Radio...a lot. Wayne Newton as Mr. New Vegas reminds me of Alan's Wake DJ. That is sad. I guess that just goes to prove that a Las Vegas singer and occasional actor shouldn't necessarily portray a DJ. I liked the music of Fallout 3 better thus far than what I've encountered in New Vegas. I am imagining it won't be changing but I sort of liked some of the funny tunes and Billie Holiday's haunting voice in the Wasteland. "Johnny Guitar" is driving me a tad crazy...oh wait....maybe that is the plan...
I wanted to pet Sunny Smiles dog Cheyenne and I can't. What is up with that? What kind of putz doesn't pet a nice doggie? I don't necessarily want the dog (my Fallout 3 dog Fang spent most of his time in my place in Megaton because I was afraid if he came with me he'd die and I didn't want that emo) but I'd like to pet it. (Oh...and why can't I have a cat for once?)
Snow globes in the desert? Really. C'mon...there had to be something better like...rattlesnake rattles. Fine! I'll go lookin' cause I am a sucker for collecting. I thought the Bobbleheads looked kinda neat so I wouldn't have minded them showing up again.
Do I ever get a pad of my own instead of shared beds? *sigh* I seem to have to hump and grind for bottlecaps and amunition and stimpaks a LOT more in this one or maybe I just need to get my groove on. I think Fallout 3 was a lot of work when I was in it but now as time has passed - I forgot about it - and now I am back in it. What was I thinking?
Did I mention I miss Three Dog?
Ok. Done whinning for now. I am not far into this game but I don't know how I feel about it. I really wasn't sure of Fallout 3 at its start and it grew on me. I am hoping that is going to be my experience here too. I was really bored in Primm and the quests there were...tedious...I dunno...I was so excited to be hitting Vegas...will let you know how it goes. Meanwhile...I am off into the desert amigo and amigas...don't wait up for me...
