there have been some heated discussions as of late regarding various topics and its gotten nasty on more than one occasion. Im not siding with any ONE party nor am I going to pass judgment.
what I want to say is that people need to realize how what they "say" can be interpreted completely opposite of how they intended. an original post may have been meant to be funny, or said with jest, but it gets lost very easily. especially if that style of humor hasnt been seen before.
I compare it to introducing a new friend to your family (or other friends). you and that friend may understand each others jokes like the back of your hands. but if the new friend throws out a witty comment to one of your other friends (or say your spouse, mother, father, etc.) it could be construed as an insult and/or demeaning. when in actuality, the new friend was just trying to break the ice or loosen up the mood.
the matter is made even worse when its being typed out; its hard to determine whether sarcasm was meant to be vicious or comical. or if there was even sarcasm in the post at all. and to make the matters worse, stubborn-ness (sp?) can prevail and cause unnecessary conflict.
I understand that not everyone gets along and that not everything people say will be agreed upon. but if the original post was meant to be funny or a joke, why get defensive if people dont immediately see that??? wouldnt it better to explain the intention??? personally, its kinda hard to understand ones humor if they come in "guns blazing" and not informing people of their intentions.
anyways, just had these thoughts on my mind and I wanted to get them out. thanks for reading. :-)
