How desperate do you have to be to shoot a 14 year old girl?

It’s not about evil it’s about ignorance. It’s not about the have not’s, it’s about fanaticism. It’s not about power, it’s about freedom. The fight, it is the knock-down drag out fight for equality and for the basic rights of human beings. We need to share the burden of the world. We have a responsibility to protect one another’s rights on the ideology that we as humans are no better or worse than the human being we walk by on the street. Love your neighbor because you are he and she is you. We all must live here on earth together and we all have the right to be treated equally by each other.

There is no room for an oppressive regime be it political or economic. America is a country that oppresses the world through its selfish capitalist consumption. Money has become our vote. And we vote not only as a country in our own self-interest but as individuals as well. Yes, as basic biological systems we are consumption based and a consumption based economy is our nature. A system that is in balance is a system that is a true going concern. It is a system that runs for an eternity. There is no world for our children if we don’t put in what we take out. If we don’t realize that if we support a country that consumes and consumes beyond our healthy means, that we are sick. Our nation is sick because we’ve eaten too much. We should be taken to in front of the UN and questioned why we deem it right that we take from the rest of the world to satisfy not just our survival but our luxurious survival.

We might say, well they sell it to us. They being impoverished countries that need our trade relations to get foreign aid or medicine or technology. We are the rich land owners and we are propping up the subsistence farmers by buying their crop and leaving them just enough seed to plant next year, knowing that eventually the soil will lose its nutrients and crops will grow no more. We will have what we want and the farmers will get evicted from the land and consume on an even more basic level in squalor. We can reap just as cruelly with our economic power as a dictator can with his soldiers and propaganda.

Money is rights. If you have money you have rights, if you have US currency you have rights. I have earned the money; I deserve the right to spend it how I choose. We may have progressed with our technology; we may have progressed in our use of efficiency to produce more and to consume more. We have not progressed in our understanding of what we consume and when we consume what that takes away from someone else. What do I take away from who when I buy X, Y or Z? What company do I support with my money, which in effect takes resources from where and distributes it to whom? Do we not care what the effect of our behavior is? Out of sight and out of mind and ignorant, we need to remember that there are billions of us on this planet. Our impact is huge, how much do we consume every day and how much do we put back in the system? How do we balance the equation?

How does a hi jacked religion become our fault because we buy stuff overseas?

How does a religious fanatic shooting a 14 year old girl because he doesn't want the women  controlled through religious oppression to become educated and therefore empowered and maybe stop ceding control of their lives to these men have anything to do with global economics?

These same economics have been in effect for hundreds perhaps thousands of years. Richer countries have always taken resources from poorer countries, often by buying them from countrymen of the very poor you're speaking of. Simple greed.

How do you equate the shooting of a 14 year old girl that was standing up for the right and ability to go to school, fighting against her own oppresive religious fathers and such to the man who sells grain, minerals, lumber, even people of his own kind to the man overseas for money?

First, I was writing about the person who pulled the trigger not the person who got shot. Also I am quite well versed in economics, I have a degree in it and my Dad is a professor of it. Any country that consumes the vast majority of resources of the planet is a country that for good reason should be despised by other poeple. I agree religious fanatics hide behind their religion, when in fact they are no more than criminals in religious clothing. Nothing justifies the control or subjugation of others be it through religious means or through economic means. by voting with your dollar you are making the decision for someone else who has no voice, how can you be so sure that the products you buy are not taking away from someone else.  Just by living in this country and driving a car, we take away from others.  Do we really have that right? Do we have that right because we live here?

I live here because it's where I was born. Nothing more sinister than that.

No conspiracy thought up in the white house, or some board room in NY.

And I was born naked and as I learned through school, naked and damn poor in the familial way.

Anything I have I worked for. And that was worked for and obtained with no thought about denying anyone anything.

I do understand your view point on global economic oppression, but I'm just a metaphorical ant in the sandlot seeking my right to the pursuit of happiness granted by the hard work, effort and sacrifice of many before me; that and the survival of my family as best I can so that they're a little better off than I was when I came into this world.

I hear the girl shot is doing well in the UK and has instigated a ground swell of support. I hope something good does come out of this, but only time will tell.

I feel the same way as you, I'm just trying to process my frustration and figure all this crazy shit out. I just want wahst best for everyone, the biggest challenge is not how we do it but how we get along while doing it.  It sure is a lot simpler to just nuke each other, but since in heaven there is no beer...
