Time to wolf out its Friday or if you’re like me it’s time to nerd out.

So last night I was playing with a bunch of crazy people on Halo 4, they were saying that the new medals and achievements were super weird, crazy or just plain stupid. I said that I would make a joke about Magic the Gathering…silencio…so I will explain myself. It really just had to do with the expansion cards…if like me you played it in its infancy it was awesome but then they made expansion after expansion and just made the game stupid…so I liken it to stupid achievements for achievements sake…yeah I nerded out a little but that’s my upbringing D&D, GURPS, Vampire (someone actually cried during one RPG gaming session and I was like this is only possible with teenage hormones), Shadowrun, Battlelords.  I played other stuff the War Hammer, Battletech, etc. with the little miniatures. I can’t do it anymore though Halo 4 and COD are too cool; I rather mash a button then roll the dice.

And for board games the best was Cosmic Encounters and for the anti-board game Gnomic too fun. I could never play Diplomacy, I was playing with this jerk and I just wanted to stab him in the face. I can’t play any game where you can just call in the nukes or the RL and blast them into the Stone Age, I can’t scheme someone into the Stone Age it just doesn’t have the same punch to it.

Here some wisdom for today: Don’t follow a dark chocolate filled with mint (Ghirardelli) with Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos, not a good combo.

I understand the reference. I never played Magic, but in the CCG glory days I played a LOT of the Decipher Star Wars game and Aliens vs. Predator. Star Wars was the worst... It started out with a simple, easy to understand game. By the time I exited (which was shortly before its death), it had become EXTREMELY complicated. You pretty much had to buy every card in every expansion just to keep up. That was the point where I said, "Enough!"

You know, I haven't even checked out any of the Halo 4 achievements. Maybe it's better that way! I'll just be playing and some random achievement will pop up every now and then. It's kind of fun.

I've been kind of done with achievement hunting since Halo 3. There was one on there called "Maybe Next Time Buddy", or something like that, where you have to re-hijack a vehicle within 10 seconds after hijacking it. I NEVER could get that damn achievement! I still don't have it. Well, last night when I was playing, I did it! But it was in Halo 4, not Halo 3. DOH!

Also, funny you mentioned Battletech. I used to be a huge BT freak. I collected and played all things BT. Like an idiot, I gave all my game stuff away. But lately, I've been rebuying BT stuff off of Ebay. It can be kind of pricey, but it's a lot of fun repainting all those miniatures! Did you ever play Solaris VII? That expansion box was always my favorite.

Later!

Did some D&D back before you could buy a book, before they revised the rules, mimeographed copies anyone? ( I think that was the term).
