Gatsu
Shared on Tue, 05/19/2009 - 03:47I've been on kind of a gaming hiatus for a couple of weeks. But with that hiatus came some creative spark.
Since joystick sales are pretty much dead right now (for me at least), I figured I'd take my new woodworking knowledge to the next step and build an arcade cabinet.
So far I've made pretty decent progress and have only really spent about $190 on the project. So not too bad.
Here's the progress so far.
This is a clamp test to see how the bottom box and the sides will fit, and give an overall view of how its all coming along. And I'm pretty happy with the result.
(back of the cabinet) - I'm debating on whether or not to leave this open for better ventilation and easier pc/xbox access.
These 3 images show off my router awesomeness. I was having issues using a flush trim bit to get all 4 side pieces flush and uniform. But I tried a different type of flush trim bit and the results are like butter.
Tomorrow I will be gluing the side pieces together and then routing a 45 degree bevel around the front edges of both sides.
Here's what the project will hopefully turn out like when its done:
