Arcade machine designs.

Okie dokie. For a while now I've wanted to have my own arcade machine. But I could never find a good deal on a used one in my area. So I'm going to go the route of building my own.

Ive done this once before, but it ended up being all scrap wood thanks to mother nature. Tragic story....I wont tell it.

Anyway. Being a designer....I'm never pleased with my own work. But I've managed to narrow it down to 2 basic designs. Both are fundamentally the same, but one has larger white side panels, the other does not.

So I'm getting the opinion of my blog readers.

Should I go with:

Option 1-

Or

Option 2:

The final colors are gonna be Black, White, and part of the control panel is gonna be a really dark red.

I've built the full size cabinet before. Option 1 will ensure less trip-age if playing with friends. Ensure you add a set of wheels on the back so that you can wheel it around and into position (saves your back and carpet) I would also recommend adding a slight angle to the controls it appears your pretty flat (personal preference) Definitely want to see blog updates as this progresses.

Go with option 1, you're just begging to trip yourself with those larger side panels in option 2.

I agree, ditch the side panels. Nice....

I disagree, I think you would have more stability with the side panels.

I'd go with option 1. The side panels might make it more stable but they look they would be in the way of your feet some what.

Option 1. I am planning to build an arcade cabinet this winter also! I've got the spare PC and spare 21" monitor but I don't have room for a full size unit so I was planning on going for a cocktail arcade cabinet.
