Building a new PC.

After alot of weeping and gnashing of teeth....I've decided to start putting funds away for a new PC. With all the new games coming out that
you NEED new hardware to play.....I need to upgrade.

My little Pentium 4 2.8ghz just isnt cutting it anymore.

And so I began my online trek through my favorite PC parts retailer....Newegg.com. I was in for more weeping and gnashing of teeth when I saw the prices of the parts I would need.

I looked and scoured and looked some more. And here are the parts I've decided on.

PC PARTS LIST:
---------------------------------
CPU:
    • Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Conroe 2.66GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor
       http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115002R
       $285.20

Motherboard:
• MSI P6N SLI Platinum LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130081
$144.99

RAM:
• CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145175
$169.00

Video Card:
• EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Video Card
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082
$279.99

For a grand total of: $816.88 (not counting S&H) Probably - $100 in rebates. But I never count rebates because I never get them when I send them in. lol.

For those in the hardcore PC gaming scene...are these parts gonna last me a while? I mean...for games like UT III and Crysis will these do? I'm just using my current hard drives and sound card out of my current case and replacing all the rest.

Thats it for now. Back to weeping.

Gatsu OUT!

Check the amps on the 12v rail of your PSU. Even though you may have enough wattage, if your 12v rails don't hold enough amps it will run like shit. That card requires 26 amps along the 12v rail. Other than that, that system will be sweet!!!

DIE you're talking electrical french to me my friend.... I don't speak electrical. Just say "you will probably need a better power supply in order for your shit to run better. Go with this wattage." ;)

Looks good! Make sure your case is ATX mid-tower and your power supply is powerful enough for the 8800. 400w is the minimum for that one but you might want to check up on it. If you want a 2nd card at a later date its probably 500w. Check the connection types on your HDD and DVD/CD drive and make sure there are enough connection types onboard. That stuff kicks my PC's ass :(

well. the current power supply I've got is 420W so that should do it. If I need more I can just sell that one and upgrade. Theres enough IDE ports for up to 4 devices I think, but zikan suggested I upgrade to using SATA hdd's instead of IDE because they are faster. So I'll be doing that as well later on.
