Just can't play it anymore.

For a long time I've been a fan of Bungie's shooter series Halo. I stood in line for the midnight launch of Halo 2. Took part in many Halo based LAN parties.

But for some reason tonight when I put the Halo 3 disc in my 360...and fired up Forge to start a new map....I found myself asking....why? For what purpose? I wasn't having fun with the game.

For a while now I haven't really played Halo with anyone. Maybe a bit of co-op campaign. But no MP. I guess I'm just catching up with the majority of my friends list that has lost interest in Halo for a while now.

I'm not gonna knock it and say its a bad game...because its not. For the time I did play it...ever since the very first game...I've enjoyed the hell out of it. But ever since I've started playing more MP games like Gears of War or Rainbow Six Vegas 2, or more sandbox type games like GTA IV, I think Halo has lost its glimmer. Sure it has some great features...like Forge for custom maps and the theater mode. But it just feels like its the same old same old. And while alot of people like that (and thats fine), I need more from my MP experience.

I think thats why Gears of War pulled me in...and I've found myself enjoying a more violent and feral MP experience. Unreal Tournament is something I've started playing more of again. And I thought I had given up on PC gaming for good. But good old UT pulled me back in.

We all have a favorite game or genre...sometimes it has what it takes to hold us indefinitely....sometimes it doesn't. And sadly with Halo...at least for me.....it doesn't.

So its time for me to move on and stick with other shooters that I actually enjoy playing now.
