PC vs. Console.....*sigh*

I know what you are thinking...oh great another fucking debate starting douche. Nope. Not at all.

This is pretty much just me blabbing to myself about what games to get on what platform. Because as I've gotten more & more into PC gaming again....the choices get more and more difficult.

Left 4 Dead. Its gonna drop on both the 360 and the PC. My dilemma....which one should I get? I have a pc that can run L4D...and a 360. I'm hesitant about the 360 version because of the $10 price difference and the lack of mod support. And the fact that Valves history with console support has been pretty much non existent. Orange Box anyone?

Unreal Tournament 3. I've got this on PC already....but I don't get to play it alot with anyone. Not too many people I know have a system that can run it. But I'm in a 360 clan...so there will be people to play it with. But again.....the $10 and lack of support. Epic dropped Gears 1 like a bad habit once it hit PCs.....so why should I trust them to keep this game going on the 360 since UT3 has been out on PC for a long while now?

So its not really a matter of which is better.....its a matter of which will I get more use out of. I love the PC and the 360 equally...both have their pros and cons of course. But besides all that....which versions should I snag??? Or should I say fuck it....go balls out and get both?

I did that with the Orange Box....and have yet to get into any matches really....so....I dunno.

I am not interested in L4D. For UT3 I'd keep the PC version. Unless user content gets on the 360 it isn't worth it. 2old2resist has been playing the shit out of the PS3 version. I've tried playing the PS3 version with a controller and it sucks. It feels slow with a controller. Using keyboard and mouse it feels like UT is suppose to feel like. I think my PC gaming days are slowly coming to an end. All I play on my PC now is TF2 because we have a few people on site that play regularly. The next time I need to upgrade my PC I think instead I will get a gaming notebook. I don't need something that can run the games at their fullest potential. I love my little laptop and I am on that most of the time. It would be nice to combine the two.

With both of the titles that you mentioned, I would wait to see how popular they wind up being on the 360 before dropping the cash. I have high hopes for both games, but I am still concerned that L4D will not appeal to the mass market enough to give it long legs and I think that UT3 could have a short lifespan because the folks that are going to be into it will be distracted by Gears 2 relatively soon after UT3's release.

Fortunately for me, each day that passes swings the curve more and more to the console. I am done with the days of trying in vain to keep up with the PC technology. My computer is quickly becoming antiquated, and even though with the dual 7950s in it *might* be able to still play most games at high details, the fact is I play online for the community. And there, nothing trumps the console & 2o2p.

I agree with Brody: only but one game... don't waste your cash. BUT: keep in mind, this is a site of console gamers, I highly doubt anyone here is going to tell you to go with PC....

Balek. I can see your point...but is that worth $10 more per game, and for a game that might not get any support from the developer?

Douche, Must be nice to have the console to debate between ! just messing with you homy. Stick with the console, just because you can hang with the homeis in Left 4 Dead (If and when it drops)

@Gat - absolutely worth the $10 to *know* there'll be non-timmies to play with. With regards to developer support, go with the assumption that there won't be any. If the game isn't good enough without patches, add-ons, expansions, whatever, steer clear of it. Least that's the philosophy I go with.

I take them on a case by case basis. I got Orange Box on PC so i could get the extra content. But other games i get on 360 because of acheivements, guranteed to work, friends list and i know people i'm playing with can't have mods loaded to get unfair advantages.
