Anyway....
NEW PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT:
------------------------------------------------------
I'm building a custom arcade console. Yes thats right. An arcade CONSOLE. What makes it a console? It'll run like a Mame arcade cabinet, but it will be small enough to fit in your entertainment center, have controller ports and won't need coins, and it'll plug into your TV via RCA ports or S-video.
"Where did you come up with that idea?" you might ask. Well from a website called Supernova Arcade system. Its a box you can buy that takes arcade Jamma PCB boards. But since the boards can cost anywhere from $60 - $1,200 a piece...thats an expensive option. But it hooks up to your TV via S-video and has RCA audio outs as well.
So I went with option 2. Build a custom PC that will run the DOS version of the emulator MAME and have it boot into the emulator rather than Windows.
It'll be faster and almost instantaneous.
This way I'll be able to move files around and upgrade through Windows when I need to swiftly and easily...but when you start it up you won't be stuck in the Windows interface. And I can find replacement parts for it more easily and cheaply.
Its gonna be sweet. I'll also be decking it out in custom artwork so it will be unique and all mine.
And if I have a pleasant experience building it, I might make 1 or 2 and put them on Ebay to see if they will sell. No games included of course...dont wanna get sued. lol.
But thats all for me for this entry. Im gonna go back to drawing out plans for this bitch.
I'll keep updating with photos of it as I go through the process.
Gatsu OUT!
Anyway....
