Time to start making some changes.

Yesterday I posted about needing some changes because I'm tired of alot of things in my life.

So big change #1.) Losing weight.
I've posted blogs about doing this in the past...and I'll start for a while, but I ALWAYS end up getting distracted for 1 day and that fucks me over big time. Because I don't get back into the right mind set. So here's the plan.

- granola bar & water for breakfast
- subway roast beef sub (lettuce, pickles & honey mustard on wheat) & water for lunch
- toast w/peanut butter & yogurt pack for dinner

Exercise - biking, boxing & swimming. And some free weights to build what little strength I have back up.

There's no "I'm gonna try" bullshit. I HAVE to do this. No exceptions....no excuses.

If I don't do this now, I never will and I might as well get some good life insurance for my family to bury me with because my ticker will be the first to go.

Big change #2.) Extra work outside of my job.
Gonna be doing some freelance graphic design outside & away from the job. Hopefully will be able to get a few small good paying jobs to wet my feet and get me the courage to start my own design firm.

Big Change #3.) Art
Been debating for a while whether or not I need/want to get back into the art field I loved so much. I've had a comic book idea jumping around my skull for a long time that needs to come out. Figured hey....might as well start pumping it out now. I've got the time. And obviously the need to do something different.

We'll see though about that second one. Any of you designers out there need some help or have some spare jobs to throw my way, let me know.

Gatsu OUT!

Good luck, Gatsu. Change is not easy for any of us, even when we know it's overdue.

If you truly desire to make #2 happen, forget all about #1 & #3 until you have people working for you. Good Luck at it- I wish you well.

w00t! Sounds like my daily consumption - minus the beer late at night which Zikan/Peep/Drunk drives me to drink.... - granola bar & water for breakfast [CHECK] - subway turkey wrap - try the wraps, lower calories - tuna fish or grillen chicken on HUGE salad....while the family eats some yummy yummy home cooking that I made...LOL

oops, I meant to add that it really helps if you have some "good for you" snacks around for the 10pm and 2pm hunger pain...it also helps your metabolism to eat 5-6 small meals instead of three bigger ones. I keep apples, bananas, dry unsalted almonds handy....

Make sure you're not eating too little also...If you cut your calories back too far you'll lose muscle mass which = metabolism...Based on the approximate calorie counts for your menu, that's probably too low for a guy.

yeah but thats usually what I eat in a day anyway. I'm a believer in "eating when you're hungry". Any more and I'm hurting and can't do anything else.

I agree with TDrag: your body goes into starvation mode and as soon as you eat a bit more: it gets stored as fat. That's the great news though: you can eat more! Just try more veggies and fruit. This may sound counter intuitive, but I eat whole fat yogurt, but here's the thing, you only eat one little container, and you feel really full, but it isn't many calories compared to a manic: "I am going to eat everything in the house" feed that happens when you get really hungry. . Mind you I am in a boat by myself: I am breastfeeding (they suck the fat right out of you) and I am also hypoglycemic. I get sugar shakes really really easy, so I really have to master what goes into my body. Another tip: when I had gestational diabetes, I had to watch like a hawk what I ate: watch portion sizes, eat often. One thing I ate that had surpisingly few calories: turkey pepperettes. Good luck!!

Hey Gats, good luck on these life changes. like someone said above, change is tough. But I think its excellent that you are setting these goals for yourself. The only one that truly can provide for us, and changes us, is ourselves :-) I also agree with some of the comments above about your drastic intake reduction. A slower more gradual decline, low fat, high fruits and veggies, some carbs and protein and fat at each meal, combined with a regular and realistic exercise program will be the most effective way to burn off the weight, and keep it off. Local support groups can also be a great help for weight loss. Weight watchers is a good one. You can also contact a local health facility and see if they can put you in-touch with a free group. Its often easier to stay on a dietary regime change when you have others to support you that are doing the same. Also as one artist to another, try to integrate #3 into your routine, even if its just a little bit each day or week. If we are not in some way doing, or at least pursuing that which we love to do, then why are we here? My advice is to do what ever it takes to bring your work and your passion as close together as possible, so that you love to do what you do :-) Good luck brother! ! BAT

I guess its gonna have to be six meals then. I really don't like that though because I always feel too full. And its more to prepare and keep track of. another thing though is I gotta cut out soda and salty stuff. Going to just water is easy for the first few days. But after a few days I get that "oooo Pepsi" gleam in my eye. lol.
