Shared on Thu, 05/29/2008 - 09:23I think all of us has a story when it comes to how we found 2old2play...and everyone has a reason why they are here. For gaming with fellow older and hopefully like-minded gamers. Its a safe-haven from the underage scurge that currently inhabits Xbox Live.
I've been a member of 2old2play since June, 2005. At first I just trolled the forums, seeing if there was anyone I clicked with. Then I got more involved and started getting to know more people on the site. Made some good friends.
Then finally I managed to get Xbox Live, so I could start gaming with people on the site. During that time...Halo 2 was THE game. If you played anything else...you had issues.
Joined a clan, had some fun...got bored with Halo 2, got a 360 and started playing Gears when it came out. Teamed up with a fellow ex-clan mate Bawbuster and started the Strategic Insomniacs. After about a year, the clan went in a gaming direction I didn't care for, so I stepped out and tried to find another clan that I could game with. Joined a few other clans....and then decided to try to start my own up again. So I started the Maniacal Marauders. We had the same creed and style as the SI group that I was a part of, we just played different games. I also joined ClaNarchy a little more recently.
Almost every clan I've been a part of, I've fit in or liked the environment. I click with the members and enjoy gaming with them. Then activity starts to waver.
For example...the first few weeks we had the Marauders group going, almost everyone was online every night and we had a blast gaming with each other. We still do have a blast gaming with each other. We just don't do it as often.
And there is my problem. Life just gets in the way. Not necessarily for me. I live a pretty uneventful life. I go to work, come home, use my PC and either play on Live (if I can find someone to game with), or I watch a movie.
But lately theres been less gaming. Nights will get setup, since I've got nothing better to do I wait for others to jump on. And nothing happens. Sure there will be some non-clannies on. And I do like gaming with everyone on my friends list....just some nights I prefer to stick with my clan guys & gals.
Things have been slow. Recruitment is nill and I think we maybe had 5 turn out for clan night. I understand life gets in the way. It happens to me. I've just gotta say its frustrating. lol. Because I'm a social gamer. I prefer to game with people I know....not just run out into the wild of Xbox Live. Thats why I buy games with good multiplayer...to play with friends. Thats why I haven't finished the 4 or 5 SP games I've got laying around....I'd rather game with friends.
But that hasn't been happening as often as I'd like sadly. I get home all excited for some Vegas 2 or some GTA IV or whatever else....and nothing. So I get annoyed a little and call it a night....turn on my PC and surf for the rest of the night. Again...I know not everyones schedule is the same as mine, and people can't bow to my needs. Life happens. But I can't say it doesn't annoy me sometimes. Because it does.
What got me thinking about this was a game thats coming out soon. Battlefield: Bad Company. Its gonna be 24 player MP and have alot of cool shit. And I'm getting it for the MP obviously. I'll play the campaign to get some achievements sure.....but ultimately I wanna blow some shit up with friends.
So what should I do? Buy it and hope that I can find enough people to play it with? Or skip it and don't invest so much time in MP anymore?
I don't play Halo 3 much anymore....just isnt that fun for me....and I don't like COD4. So that can make it difficult. And I don't wanna play just 1 game all night every night...I like to switch things up. Do a couple of different games a week.
