Brooklyn Egg Cream

So the other day I was in the grocery store and I spot a bottle of U-bet syrup and I instantly thought of the "world famous"  Brooklyn Egg Cream  - a drink comprised of chocolate syrup, milk and seltzer water. From what I have read and seen on TV you have to use Fox's U-bet syrup because anything else just doesn't taste the same.

I buy the stuff and take it home and whip one up following the directions on the bottle.  It looked impressive when I was done and I brought the glass up to my lips and took a big tug on that bad boy all the while anticipating the amazing flavor that I was about to experience.

That's it?  Wow, I was underwhelmed. It was kind of a weak ice cream float. I was expecting so much more since I had heard so much about them.

I just don't get it.

Maybe it would have been better if you had put a shot of that Tobasco looming in the distance in it! C'mon, you're from Texas. You know that EVERYTHING is better with a shot of Tobasco!

Well, if it's from NY what do you expect? Head to Boston for a frappe.
