Job Hunting - Yay! (not really)

Some of  you may know that I am currently the office/business manager for a computer/networking services company here in East Texas. The company is owned by three partners who do most of the tech work.

I was brought on to handle the day to day running of the business, the scheduling, the billing, etc. When we first started out things were good but  recently things have been getting bad.

Money has been tight because one of the partners continued to write himself checks on money that had come in from customers to handle new projects. It got so bad that the other two partners had to hide the checkbook and credit cards.  This same partner started showing up less and less, doing less and less work and was not even submitting work orders for the work he did so the customer could be billed and as a result - the company get paid.  My attempts to get them to correct these issues fell on deaf ears and it has been amazingly frustrating.

The partners started butting heads on other issues and ignoring other issues. All of them are very non-confrontational and just chose to ignore the problems  - allowing the situation to become worse. Paychecks started arriving late. Because of this I started looking for another job a few weeks back.

While I was out of town recently, one of the partners up and quit.  I have not received my last two paychecks.

Just last week I was informed that at the end of the year the company would be closing and they will get me paid ASAP.  While I can't say I didn't see this coming, the timing of it truly sucks.

So, now I am out looking for employment. I have a good lead on a couple of openings at the local state university that would be a sweet deal because I would not have to move and the benefits would be great.

Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Merry F'in Christmas! Well, hopefully you will get right into another position quickly and without too much loss in salary. (Don't hold your breath on the late paychecks!) Good luck!

Sounds like a bit of bad news. I am happy to hear about your strong leads. I wanted to suggest putting your application on Monster. It may be another way to get info on what jobs are on the market that may be a good match. And hopefully this bad news will be the best news in a while once you have found a better job.
