New HDTV on the blink

Argh!!

That is from frustration I want you to know, it is not some remnant left over from "Talk Like A Pirate Day".

I bought a Samsung TX-S3082WH for Christmas and it has been a great TV and I got a great deal on it as well. It is a 30 inch CRT HDTV and it is only 16 inches deep, a perfect fit for our entertainment center.

However, the day before yesterday we started having problems with it - it would just turn off all by itself. And it is not the normal shut down from pressing the power button on the console or the remote. Normally, when you turn it on or off, there is a series of tones that either rise or fall depending on if you are turning it on or off.  There were no tones when the TV would turn off by itself. It just blinked off.

So, I start looking for info on the TV. It has a one year onsite  parts and labor warranty so I am covered there. However, I have been unable to locate the receipt!! I keep receipts for everything and I found all of them in my search - the xbox, the 360, the toaster oven, the digital thermometer we bought to shove up the kids rear ends - all of them EXCEPT the one I need.

I don't need this right now.

So, today I will be calling Best Buy to see if they have record of when I bought the TV. I will be calling Samsung as well. I usually fill out my registration card for big ticket items so perhaps they have record of the purchase as well.

Here's hoping.

JoeBob, if you paid for the TV with a credit card/debit card at BB, then they will have a record. If you paid with a check, you should be able to get the canceled check from the bank. Good luck!

Best of luck to ya. BB had to look me up one time. I paid via the card, so it wasn't an issue.

Man... I've had both of my old 32" TV's repaired in the last year, and I've talked to the repair man about the new DLPs, Plasmas, etc... He said that Samsungs were the worst. For the most part because he go so many repair calls on them. My neighbor has one, and he's had nothing but problems with it. It isn't even a year old yet, and the color wheel has gone out on it already. The repairman said that Hitachis were the best TV to buy at the moment.

My 36" HD CDT went dead last Christmas and I didn't have a warranty on it. On a whim, I popped open the back and replaced the fuse and POOF it has been working ever since. Cost of repair: $0.67
