Rockin' my son to sleep

So, tonight I am rocking my 2.5 year old before putting him in his bed for the evening just like every other night more often than not.

I usually sing to him and more often than not he will make requests, not for particular songs, but for songs about things he encountered during the day - a swimming pool song, a dog song, a pizza song, you get the idea.

So, tonight he asked for a rock song. A rock song? Ok, you got it man.

I sang Rock and Roll All Night by KISS.

He made me sing it three times.

Wow! That brings back some great memories for me. I was the same age as my daughter is now (13 1/2) when that song came out.

My wife was mentally searching for a song a couple of nights ago for our 10-month old daughter and she came up with Swing Life Away by Rise Against. Not quite the rocker that 'Rock n' Roll All Night' is, but I appreciate that my kid is being lulled to sleep with songs by hard core punk bands! I think I'll try pulling out some Sex Pistols next.

Sure it's all fun now getting them hooked on rock. Just wait until they're teenagers and they "just borrow" all your CD's. Then it's not so amusing when you have nothing to listen to.

Awww cute! Do you think the members of kiss get sick of putting on all that makeup every time they perform?
