Washer update

Earlier I wrote about our washer being broken.  I just received a reminder automated phone call to remind me that the repairman will be here tomorrow between the hours of 8am and 5pm.  This is the 21st Century! Can't we narrow down our schedules better than this?  These companies operate this way because we have no alternative to turn to and they simply don't give a crap.  Jerks.

They say that because if they said between 12-5, the job that was 8-12 would be a total cluster and go until 2. Then you would be more pissed. Most times they call to see if they can come earlier since they get paid by the job, not the hour. Hope it works out for you.

In the 21st century - it'd be nice if they show up and actually FIX it!

Being in field service, I can actually tell you why they say that...maybe bringing some light upon it. The reason they give you such a broad timespan is because while at another customers home, which they may have been at before you, it may take them longer than a typical amount of time depending on the repair. Just be nice to the guy....if he's decent, it's not his fault....it's his companies that they made shit stuff. MJ

Thanks for the explanations guys. It seems that it is just a case of over commitment. Perhaps they should schedule fewer calls per day? That would eat into the profits though. You certainly don't want the techs sitting around waiting for tomorrows jobs. Hmmm.. There is a way to fix this. I just need to think about it.
