PCS time again

PCS = Permanent Change of Station.  The military code for: time to move on.  As I'm preparing for this move I'm realizing a few things.

1- I'm getting kinda tired of moving every 2 - 3 years.  Been doing it my whole life (Air Force brat) and it's starting to wear.
2-I turn 32 in 5 days, and the longest I've lived anywhere was NC for a little over 6 years, and everywhere else has been no more than 3 years.  That's a lot of moving.
3-Moving is ALWAYS a pain in the ass.
4-No matter where you live, you accumulate a lot of junk, and when it's time to move, it's a pain sorting the wheat from the chaff.
5-The excitement and anticipation of going to a new place is wearing off a bit.  I think I'm ready to start growing some real roots with friends I'll know longer than a couple of years.
6-Blogging is useful for easing some of the stress.  Now that I've wrote this, I'm ready to leap back into the fray of prepping a family of 5 for moving, a house for clearing, and myself for the strain of the next month or two.

Thanks for reading.

I worked @ III Corps from 2002 til 2004...going to Riley. LOL...volunteering for Nam to escape Hood...nice. It's not quite as bad now I would think. The Cav guys are always motivated, the 4th ID guys...well...they're a strange lot anyway...still, all in all, Hood's not too bad.

I knew the Cav was at Hood, but didn't realize 4th ID was there too. I saw the 4th quite a bit in 'Nam. They were strange there too! LOL

Have you been to Ft. Carson? My personal favorite base. The furthest east i've been is Arkansas though. :) I don't know anything about the east. Oh yeah, the chow in Carson kicks ass!

Yeah...they're there for now, but they're reflagging and moving to Bliss. I think 1st ID is going to Hood in their place. The 1st has more or less completely left from over here.

I've heard Carson is a pretty good place to go...never had the chance myself...the furtherest west I've been is Hood. Go figure eh?...

Good luck, where ya' goin? When were you at Hood? I spent a lifetime or two there (actually 9 months) in the 1st Armored Division. It was so bad, I volunteered for 'Nam! Actually I think it was coming stateside after a 13 month tour in Korea w/ the 1st Cav before they rotated thru the states and then to 'Nam. I found it real difficult to take the stateside crap after being stationed near the DMZ in Korea. Anyway, 'enjoy' clearing post.

Good luck with the move! How long before you can "settle down" in one place?

Hope the move goes well. I hate moving, do it almost every year, and before it's all said and done I will have moved 3 times in the last 14 months.
