Well, I'm in Kansas now.  We drove for 3 days, could've done it quicker, but was in no real rush and travelling with 3 kids who've never cross-country travelled by car before, well, ya'll probably understand.

Funny thing, I stopped near Mufreesboro, TN the first night.  Next morning, 10-15 minutes up the road, and there's Franklin, TN, home of the Spidey.  Sorry Spidey, would've called you for a beer or something had I known....figures eh?  Next time I head down to my parents, I'll give a ring...

First impression of Kansas is: GREEN.  For some reason, I was thinking row upon row of corn and an overall "yellowish" looking state that was as flat as your 7th grade dance date.  Nope, very pretty state with nice rolling hills full of nice, green vegetation and infrequent copses of trees.

I was also spoiled by the nice, slightly chillly summer in Germany, b/c it is frickin' hot in the States right now.  Tough all over I guess.

Anyways, I signed in yesterday only to find out, "Sorry Sgt, everyone is on a 4 day starting Friday so we can't start your in-processing until Tuesday.  You should get a hotel, and report here at 0655 on Tuesday."...... ...typical damn Army crap.  I could've chilled in GA an extra 3-4 days, but now I'm at Fort Riley with not a damn thing to do.

Well, I'll post this in my blog too, and will keep ya'll updated, and hopefully, I'll get a house soon so I can get back to my beloved xbox live and Halo.

Yeah that sucks. You could have spent those 3 days somewhere you wanted to be. But hope you make the best of it.

Eww being stationed there for over 2 years I can tell you that is not one of the best places to be with NOTHINGH to do. If you like to fish you go go to Milford Lake it's not very far. Check out Manhattan for a bit also. In about 2 weeks Manhattan will be a much BUSIER place as K-State students get into the full swing of college again.
