My wife and I seem to be on a do it yourself project craze here lately.  We were at a home improvement store when we say a refrigerator on sale.  It was a floor model that they were selling off.  I had been planning to wait but we couldn't pass up the deal.  And of course this meant that we needed to install the wainscoting that we are planning to do in the area behind the fridge because, well, no better time than when that area is getting cleared out.  We had great success, all of the molding looked good, I got all of the cuts right and I was happy.  I put the old fridge back because the new one was not coming for a week.

Fast forward to one week later the new fridge arrives, doesn't fit.  I'm off by about 3/4 of an inch.  I never even thought to measure.  My wife and I were so excited by the sale that we didn't take into consideration the fit.  Fortunately I won't have any issue getting my money returned.

What really intrigues me though is that the cost of the smaller refrigerators at the sizes I need, are more expensive than the larger ones.  It seems backwards to me.

So the moral of the story:  measure twice, buy once.
